Henderson School Toilet Project

comm (4)

The impetus comes from the fact that President John Hudson lived and grew up at Henderson until the age of 12, and has established strong contacts with both the school and the Rotary Club of Harare – both of whom confirm the urgent need that the school and its students have for proper hygiene arrangements. The primary school has 420 pupils and 18 staff, and the existing facilities are 15 ‘long drop’ type toilets. These are all old, many are built of mud bricks, and some are structurally unsound due to torrential rains during the rainy season. They are inadequate and fail to properly provide the toilet requirements of the pupils and staff. The new building also includes showers, hand washing facilities and a new pavement.

IPP Fadzi will continue to take the lead on this project. We were hoping to complete the project by end of year- 2025, hopefully before schools close. If not, we hope to have the toilets functional before schools open. To date, RCH has raised $1495 towards the project. A BIG THANKS to Rtn Tinaapi for inspections and coordinating with Henderson team, to get us to where we are. Any ideas or contacts who may be able to donate materials or money are welcome. We are aiming to complete this project by early 2026.
